Note: Hugh Bennett was head of the Soil Conservation Service which was established in 1935.

He promoted crop rotation, contour plowing, terracing and shelter-belt tree planting to reverse soil erosion, that caused the dust storms that devastated American Agriculture during the Great Depression.
